Day 61 - Flip the Birdie

Day 61 - Wednesday 14 July 2010

So I was walking with Nurit (a friend from Perth) around the Shuk today and when we saw this store for rogelach, we turned and she was freaked out by the seemingly dead birds hanging around the food!

Turns out they were put there on purpose (I'm assuming to keep away the flies and bees) and they just hang there, looking rather creepy..still, found it rather amusing and thought it deserved a snap!

Day 29 - No TV and No Beer make Homer something something..

This is a retrospective choice of photo of the day - I spent a relaxing Shabbat at home before the busy week ahead, but also, was working like a donkey!

Thursday night, Friday morning, Saturday night and Sunday morning - meant that I didn't really get the chance to go out over the weekend, or spot any compelling images! This photo and Sunday's were both taken on Sunday - I could have gotten away with not explaining that, but why hide the truth! This was taken at the Shuk, after one of the shops had packed up - meaning that during the day, it is probably hidden or obscured from view, so I'm glad I was able to see it..

This is the next installment in the street art/graffiti art series..

I think it's pretty clear and for me, when I see this image, I'm just reminded of the episode from 'The Simpsons' where homer loses TV and Beer and goes crazy..

Day 4 - Erev Shavuot

So after visiting the good old building of Eretz HaTzvi - a nice trip down memory lane and the lanes of Katamonim - first Shoko Besakit as an Israeli and a good old packet of Doritos and a Sushi Rechavia lunch, I thought what better way to remember the day of Erev Shavuot, than to visit the Shuk, Machane Yehuda.

{I gave up on the notion of trying to amass all 7 of the 7 species - although I did go for a walk around the streets of Katamonim after visiting the Yeshiva because along Rashbag there are a whole lot of fruit trees in bloom - and saw all but 2 of them.}

Day 4 - Tuesday 18 May 2010

To me, the Shuk epitomises the Chag of Shavuot - fresh fruits and produce all around, hundreds, thousands of people running around for last minute purchases, and screaming merchants trying to get you to buy their food..Ah, Israel.
